July 29, 2026 IRS Business Tax Account Renewal Deadline for S Corp and C Corp Officers
There is an important deadline for Designated Officials for S corps and C corps who registered in 2025 to renew their roles.
Deadline and Requirements
Designated Officials have until July 29, 2026, to renew/revalidate their role to maintain access to their IRS Business Tax Account. The IRS requires this renewal annually which applies to Designated Officials like officers (President, VP, CEO, CFO, COO, Secretary, Treasurer) or a managing member of the entity. They must also be a current employee who received a W-2 for the most recent tax filing year and authorized to legally bind the business or entity.
Consequences of Missing It
If your Business Tax Account is not renewed by July 29th, you may lose access to your account and have to re-register from scratch. If your business has more than one Designated Official, each person must sign in and revalidate their own role individually. This will help ensure that if one person misses the deadline, you will not be completely locked out of the account.
Where to Go
irs.gov/businessaccount has all the resources to allow officials to sign in and renew their accounts. If you are registered with multiple entities, you will be able to access all of them through your Business Tax Account.
With only a few weeks remaining, make sure to have your account renewed before losing access to it entirely!
