Longtime Memphis CPA firm merges with Chattanooga firm

A Memphis CPA firm that has called the Bluff City home since 1977 is merging with a firm based out of Chattanooga.Brundige Payne & Co. PC will merge with Chattanooga's Henderson Hutcherson & McCullough PLLC (HHM), effective Aug. 1.The combined company will operate as HHM Memphis and in October move to a new headquarters in Kirby Centre at 1755 Kirby Parkway in East Memphis. Brundige Payne is currently located at 700 Colonial Road, Suite 220. HHM's current Memphis office is located at 6363 Poplar Ave., Suite 405.Brundige Payne is the No. 18 largest accounting firm in Memphis, according to the MBJ Book of Lists. The firm's employees — nine CPAs, including four partners; 13 professionals; and two support staff — will continue in their current roles at HHM Memphis.HHM entered the Memphis market in December 2015 when CPA Darrin Yoder merged his solo practice with the 30-plus-year-old Chattanooga firm.HHM staff accountant Andrew Mayfield moved from Chattanooga to Memphis at Yoder's request in 2016; senior tax manager Britany Foley joined HHM in Memphis in late 2016; and HHM partner Jason Martin moved to Memphis this month after solidifying the merger with Brundige Payne.“We are very pleased to partner with Brundige Payne & Co.,” said Donnie Hutcherson, HHM managing partner. “The partners there have established a legacy in Memphis, and we look forward to working with their clients to continue the level of service to which they are accustomed.”Through HHM's affiliate companies — HHM Wealth Advisors and Southside Creative Group — Memphis clients will have access to wealth management and retirement planning as well as branding, marketing, public relations and graphic design services.
