John Coker joined the HHM dealership practice in 2014 after 12 years in the accounting industry, including eight years with a multi-store automotive group in North Carolina. He began his career on the firm’s dealership controller team, where he supported and trained CFOs and controllers for some of HHM’s largest and most complex clients. His experience expanded into tax, audit, and advisory services, with a primary focus on helping dealers build and protect enterprise value. A graduate of the NADA Dealer Academy, John brings an operator’s perspective to business and financial decisions. He advises on a range of services including transactions, capital structure, valuations, performance reviews and metrics, strategic tax planning, and estate and succession planning. He partners with dealers throughout the business life cycle—from initial investment and platform growth to leadership transitions and exit planning. John earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Management from North Carolina State University. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Megan; their three children, Matthew, Thompson, and Charlotte; and their dog, Millie.
