Chattanooga

Daniel Sheets joined the firm in 1996 and was admitted as a partner in 2005. He has taken on a key role in the Accounting and Assurance Department. He offers specialized assurance, accounting, and tax services primarily to business clients in the private sector and various nonprofit organizations. Daniel is highly detail-oriented. His ability to spot every detail – no matter how small – helps him to provide all of his clients with exceptional service. He brings his vast knowledge of both auditing and tax services to bear for each of them. He is one of a minority of accountants in the firm who are qualified to review and approve financial statements for issuance. He draws on his in-depth knowledge of accounting principles to provide this quality-focused service for his clients. One aspect of accounting that goes overlooked in many cases is the relationship between client and accountant. Daniel is known for his communication with clients. He often develops a rapport with them that allows him to understand their needs from their point of view. In that way, he is able to get all the information he needs to perform audits that accurately reflect the clients’ business. He is able to give a bird’s-eye view at the same time as he deals with the minutia. Before Daniel came to HHM, he spent several years in the banking industry. As a result, he is able to understand the unique needs of that industry from the inside out. He takes a large role in working with the firm’s credit union clients. His keen eye for detail helps them to improve as he applies his expertise in that area. In 2006, Daniel graduated from the BDO Leadership Institute, which is a two-year program that focuses on providing leadership skills to CPAs throughout the country.
