Guide to the 2018 Tennessee Tax Holiday

Though the holiday is great for students and parents, anyone can enjoy the perks of the tax holiday. The items listed below may only be purchased for personal use and are still taxable for business use.Here’s what you need to know about the TN sales tax holiday.When is the tax holiday?The sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 27th and ends Sunday, July 29th at 11:59 p.m.What qualifies?• Clothing qualifies as long as it is less than $100 per item. Items that are exempt from tax include pants, shirts, socks, shoes, uniforms, etc. However, handbags, jewelry and recreational equipment are a few items that are still considered taxable.• School supply items qualify as long as the item is less than $100. This includes school supply items like pens, notebooks, crayons, clay, art supplies, and backpacks.• Computers qualify as long as they have a purchase price of $1,500 or less. This includes laptops, tablets and desktop computers. A computer package with other bundled computer components may also be considered exempt.What doesn't qualify?Printers or printer supplies, electronic readers (ex.
