HHM CPAs Ryan McGowan Raises Funds for the American Cancer Society
HHM CPAs staff accountant Ryan McGowan is raising funds for the American Cancer Society through the 2020 Real Men Wear Pink campaign. Every dollar raised helps the American Cancer Society save lives from breast cancer through early detection and prevention, innovative breast cancer research, and patient support.
In 2016, McGowan's sister was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He witnessed firsthand the trials and tribulations one goes through with the numerous doctor visits, chemo treatments, and radiation. Fortunately, his sister beat her cancer and has been in complete remission for four years.
"The process is difficult enough as it is," says McGowan. "I want to help alleviate that stress any way that I can. Taking away the financial aspect is another way to help the patient focus on his or her fight to defeat this terrible disease."
McGowan's personal goal is to raise $5,000 dollars to support the American Cancer Society. McGowan is alongside 15 other Chattanooga men in the Real Men Wear Pink 2020 campaign. This distinguished group of community leaders is determined to raise awareness and money to support the American Cancer Society's mission and save more lives than ever before from breast cancer.
